Matt began life as an enterpreneur importing and selling games and puzzles into retailers and wholesalers from his Garage at 16. He then, whilst in a band, started writing music magazines for local festivals before becoming obsessed with the internet and it's potential for real-time interaction.

On sunday 14th February I was fortunate enough to be able to attend Samsungs’ media event in Barcelona, to unveil WAVE, the first of a series of new devices running on their new BADA platform expected to be released in April.

At Zkatter we are working very closely with Samsung and are excited about the opportunities that Bada brings to the smartphone marketplace.  I met up with Joshua Topolski of Engadget who after, kindly giving me directions to an event,  (thanks Joshua!)  gave a review of the new devices which can be found here

Bada offers multi applications running at the same time with a super cool amoled screen.  The UI is nice and the operating system is robust running on a snapdragon processor, although hardware specifics have as yet to be 100% defined.

We are currently developing Zkatter on bada and will have some exciting announcements to make in regards to our partnership with Samsung.  Watch this space. . .

Yesterday I was fortunate enough to attend the Worldwide Launch of Samsung’s ‘Bada’ platform where I believe we are seeing smartphone technology tip into mainstream and with that, the beginning of the end of the feature phone.

The mainstream consumer demands the experience of a smartphone, as a given, without paying a premium and as usual, I see Samsung (through Bada) are doing what they do best. Hitting the market as the technology goes mainstream with an affordable alternative to iphone / android.

So what should we make of Bada? Well, a combination of high performance handsets, affordable and accessible to the mainstream consumers combined with Samsungs global distribution means that it simply cannot be ignored.

So, naturally, Samsung are focusing on revenues that can gained from their application store and partnerships with developers.

I am delighted to announce that Zkatter have formed a partnership with Samsung are are looking forward to becoming one of the services to be unveiled on a Bada enabled device.

The video goes some way to highlight the potential of the SDK and it was fantastic to see Zkatter – an unlaunched service ranked alongside some of the biggest technology services and developers in the world such as Yahoo, Facebook and Twitter.

Congratulations Samsung!

Bizk.it was selected from hundreds of companies to attend Digital Mission.  Awoooga!

The missions support UK digital companies to expand internationally, understand foreign markets, attract investment, find partners and develop business relationships.

A highly productive week was spent in New York, based loosely around Web 2.0 Expo and I would recommend any start up apply to attend, if looking to expand into the US. I had a great day at Biz Tech in Burlingame on October 23rd.  It was great to catch up with Craig Numark from Craigslist amongst others and learn from fellow start up enterpreneurs, that little bit further down the line on how they cope with scale and how an overnight start-up sensation can affect your life.
